Knit. Sock. Love

Who is an excited girl today? Meeeee!

Look what arrived in the post…

Cookie A has to be my number one sock designer. I simply love knitting her patterns – easy to follow, unexpected, daring, and completely modern.  I’ve said it before, and will say it many more times – her Monkey pattern is a must knit.

Summer has finally arrived in Wellington and it’s been rather sweltering the last few days – well, for us anyway. It’s meant for super productivity, including loads of dyeing. I’ve also started winding up the new Artisan Lace stock so there will be white 300m and 900m skeins in the shop shortly, ready to be knit up into projects from Wrapped in Lace.

I must admit to being a bit jealous of the snow in the northern hemisphere – big warm hugs from down under! Oh and a belated thanks giving – thanks to everyone for being so wonderful! You have truly made my year xx

Magazine love

A self-confessed magazine addict, I want to share a couple beauties with you. Firstly, fishhead magazine. Once you get past the name, it is a new Wellington-centric mag that was launched earlier this year. Still on the way to finding it’s niche, it’s definitely one to watch, especially seeing as they love craft so.

The beautiful Diane Massey-Molloy being a stunning cover girl…

A rather thoughtful and well-written article about a bunch of indie crafters and designers (incl yours truly). See that table bottom left? That’s us having a ball at the Apartment Bar, Allen St, Wellington onTuesday nights from 5.30. You should totes join us!

I also had the pleasure of flicking through the new Extra Curricular mag yesterday – based in Auckland, Ellie is getting better and better at putting this together every issue. Absolutely worth your spare change, it would be a real shame to see this go the way of Staple and World Sweet World. So go on, buy it!

More inspiration…

Besides all the yellow going on this week, I would love a couple things from the nood sale, pretty please:

Sadly can’t get pictures, but this chair and this table are pretty awesome.

A moment

Of quiet.

Can’t bear to think about, or even fathom, the pain the families and friends of the Pike River miners must be going through.

It has been a heart-breaking week. There have been some incredibly strong leaders through this – Peter Whittal, Pike River CEO, and Police Superintendent Gary Knowles. Amongst the journos scrambling for any new piece of news, and families desperate to get their loved ones back, they were outstanding. Absolute respect to them.

It’s one of those things that remind us to take care of those that matter most to us.

If one could wear yellow…

This cardigan from Asos is fab. Hey, and they have free shipping!

Speaking of shipping, there are some seriously exciting things heading towards the letterbox, and I am beside myself with anticipation to receive them – a few books, actually a few more books, some yarn,  gift wrap, knitting needles, and oh that’s right, more yarn. Yay!
