Scratching the Knitting Itch

Getting things done.

I’ve been busy finishing projects! The best kind of knitting! And as I looked through the photos…realised each and every one is in Knitsch Sock. Of course.

La Dauphine in ‘Sweetheart’

Cookie A’s Monkey in ‘Colonel Mustard’ – a new colourway

Maile in ‘Hydro’

And finally, Laika, from Ysolda’s book Little Red in the City, in ‘Davey Jones’ (another new colour)

It’s so nice to get lots of things off the needles! Now i’m onto a Cria in Royal Mythral – and i’m loving the clever construction. What have you been knitting lately?

PS – all the new colours will go up next week -and there are loads!

Dude I stole your element!

Lots of knitters got crazy excited last week with the launch of the knitted periodic table project.

Organised to celebrate the 2011 International Year of Chemistry, this is collaborative knitting at it’s best.

Lucky me managed to nab Krypton – which if you read the stuff article, left one knitting Chemistry student a bit miffed. Sorry, dude! I stole your element!

The finished table of elements will be on display at Vic Uni for a spell, and then head elsewhere. Well done to the organisers – an excellent way of getting people excited!

SNOW! Hooray!

Snow in Wellington is an extremely rare event – especially down to sea level. I’ve been giddy with joy for the last two days – the mountain has sent the weather to me, so I don’t feel quite so bereft having not been there yet.

There are some very special photos over on the Dom Post site, but this flick by Ro Tierney doing the rounds already captures the magic beautifully – and well timed with the end of Film Festival (we still have Jaffas to send out with orders too!)

Jaffas!

Wellington is just getting to the end of Film Festival – and for the first time in many years I’ve had the real joy of getting along to more than a few movies.

So far, Submarine, Medianeras and The Trip have made up the viewing schedule, with The Giants, The Future and Drive still to come.

I honestly can’t think of a better winter past-time than curling up with excellent movies, knitting and…

Jaffas! So the next 20 orders through the website will get a box of Jaffas – the best way to have them.

Spring, and when good yarn goes messy.

Even though we haven’t really had much of a winter, Spring is already making herself seen this week.

And because I love any excuse for a gallery of yellow…

The gorgeous Shelley of Sweet William finally made it along to knit night this past week. She had a slight mishap with her skein of Gold Rush, and has turned it into a piece of wearable art…

And out on a walk over the weekend, I had to get a shot of this fish & chip shop door…

Not only is the door yellow, I’m in love with the sign writing.Cue gratuitous photos of more yellow…

(ok so this is mustard, but I love the photo, and the chair!)
